Families do matter - West Midlands Children and Families of Prisoners Project
Our project Help and advice Families News and events Partnership Useful links Contact us

This site contains an outline and updates of our work and links to other organisations working with families of offenders.

The project has now obtained mainstream funding to continue some of its work, particularly focussing on awareness raising and forging partnerships between children and family service providers and probation and prison services. Originally targetting the West Midlands the project is now expanding its remit to include other regions in partnership with Action for Prisoners' Families (APF) with funding povided by National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and Department of Children Schools and Families (DCSF). Our aim in this work is to improve awareness of the needs of offenders' families and to create links between family service providers and offender management services. By doing so we seek to improve access to services  and the outcomes experienced by these families which in turn can contribute to greater family stability and reductions in reoffending. Click here for our 2009 project report.
